Mountain mint (Pycnanthemum pilosum) is a native American species that bears numerous, velvety white flower heads in mid to late summer. Perennial in zones 5 and higher, mountain mint will tolerate dry conditions, and requires little care or maintenance once established. Nectar-rich flowers are very attractive to many kinds of beneficial insects. Highly aromatic leaves and flowers are traditionally used in teas, potpourri, and natural repellents.
